On Sat., March 14, Student Honors council hosted the Pi-rates of Dessert Island.

The event took place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Exhibition Hall of DeHority, and featured several activities both pi- and pie-themed. Attendees could attempt to pin an eye patch to a pirate or participate in a pie eating contest.

There was a "Pie an RA" event, where students answered trivia questions for the opportunity to be the one to pie the RAs. Those who attended the event could also participate in pi recitation competitions and competitions to fill out unit circle sheets for the chance to enter a drawing to win a pie.

The main event was the pie bake off. Four pies were entered into the competition: a sugar cream pie, a peanut butter chocolate pie, a blueberry crumble pie and a mixed berry pie. The pies were judges on their presentation, crust, and overall taste by a panel of "celebrity" judges. The winning pie was the mixed berry pie.
