Year: Sophomore Major: Psychology The Honors College is a huge draw because it's a small, tight-knit community within a bigger school. It's also a chance to meet people who are like-minded in the sense that they're academic and discussion-oriented, but at the same time are very diverse. There's a lot to learn from both the classes offered by the Honors College and the people. Getting to use critical thinking, expand my perspective and discuss relevant topics with people from all different backgrounds are all opportunities I can thank the Honors College for, and I love being a part of it. |

Year: Sophomore Majors: Journalism and Marketing I joined the Honors College because I know I thrive when I’m in a classroom with other students who want to be there and expand their minds as well. I wanted to broaden my horizons and escape my comfort zone, and expose myself to ideas and values different from my own—I’ll say, my current honors class hasn’t let me down yet! I am so thankful to be surrounded by like-minded people who love learning like I do. |

Year: Senior Major: English Rhetoric and Writing Minors: Spanish and sociology I chose to be in the Honors College in order to advance my writing skills as well as my ability to work as part of a team. I would like to work in a writing field after I graduate, and I believe that an Honors degree will help me to realize that goal by providing a solid foundation in writing, critical thinking, and experience with others within the Ball State Honors community. |

Year: Senior Major: Journalism Graphics and Magazine Choosing the Honors College meant choosing to constantly challenge myself. While that sounds really exhausting—and sometimes it is—it also has allowed me to explore different sides of myself and meet some amazing people. The small, discussion-based classes are what brought me into the Honors College; the friends I’ve made in those classes is what keeps me here. |

Year: Senior Major: Telecommunications Minor: Spanish When I joined the Honors College I knew that it would be a bit of a challenge for me, but I’ve found that being challenged, and even uncomfortable at times, in the classroom is the only way you learn. You have to put yourself outside of your comfort zone, and it seemed like honors courses were the best chance of finding that. Honors courses have really helped to broaden my perspective and deepen my thinking, and so far have been some of my favorite courses at Ball State. I’m very glad I decided to join.
